RINGING AWARENESS TO THE PLIGHT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE
THROUGH A PURPOSE-DRIVEN FOOD BRAND
Sometimes good deeds come from unexpected places.
While so many of us work hard through our photography to bring greater awareness to nature and conservation efforts, the reality is that oftentimes we miss out on delivering our message about declining wildlife populations and vanishing species to a wider global audience.
Recently, Paws Trails team was invited to contribute our photography to a new purpose-driven food brand. African Dream Foods, a US-based startup, with a mission to provide natural, wholesome and delicious sauces, foods, and spices to the world while giving back to wildlife and nature conservation. When African Dream Foods’ products hit the market later this fall, a portion of the proceeds from each bottle purchased will be donated to various organizations that support African wildlife conservation efforts. African Dream Foods will be launching their brand on Kickstarter this summer and will begin taking pre-orders for their initial product line of sauces and spices to raise funds for their business.
Paws Trails co-founder Hermis Haridas and I have agreed to provide our photographs of African animals for the labels of the sauces and spices as a way to support the cause. We share the vision of African Dream Foods that protecting African wildlife and wild landscapes is the job of the global community. We believe a collaboration on this level — having our wildlife photography featured on a culinary product to be sold internationally — brings our cause to a larger population of consumers. Additionally, the company welcomes the opportunity for other wildlife photographers to collaborate with them as they continue their mission (info@africandreamfoods.com).
Nature has an amazing way of inspiring each of us. For some, we are drawn to capture animals and nature in their most authentic settings through photography, while for others, there is a calling to build a business from the ground up with a purpose to give back to the very same nature we are all passionate about and want to enjoy and experience for many years to come.
