How did your interest in wildlife arise?
My interest in wildlife started very early. As a child, I visited Corbett quite a few times, and those trips unknowingly planted a seed in me. But then life took over studies, responsibilities, and a long gap followed where I drifted away from the jungle. After completing my PhD, the very first thing I did was revisit the wild. I travelled to Bandhavgarh and Kanha, and that’s when everything resurfaced. The moment I stepped into those forests, I felt the same spark I had as a child, but stronger. That trip made me realise that wildlife wasn’t just an interest, it was where I truly belonged.
How do you describe your journey as a photographer and a person?
My journey has been transformative. Photography became the medium through which I learned patience, discipline, and silence. It taught me to observe more than I speak. As a photographer, the more I grew technically, the more I realised that wildlife photography isn’t about the camera, it’s about your connection with the subject. I am more of a story person, always keen to know the reason for a particular behaviour of the subject.

What is your view on Wildlife Conservation? How can we, as wildlife photographers, help to protect Mother Nature?
Wildlife conservation is not just a responsibility, it’s a necessity. The forests are shrinking, species are disappearing, and ecosystems are under pressure. As wildlife photographers, we have the power to shift perspectives. Our photographs can inspire awareness, evoke emotions, and start conversations. By sharing ethical stories from the jungle, respecting animal boundaries, educating people about the importance of co-existence, and supporting conservation initiatives, we become bridges between the wild and the world.
Can you give our readers the best wildlife photography tips?
The most important tip is to spend time observing behaviour, routes, light patterns, and habitats. Once you understand your subject, everything else becomes easier. Technical knowledge is secondary; connection and observation come first. Also, never chase the animal wait for the moment to unfold naturally. Try capturing the animal in its habitat, in its own comfort zone, without disturbing it for the sake of a shot. And above all, have a lot of patience.
What plans do you have in the future related to Wildlife Photography?
In the future, I simply want to continue doing what I love travel to different jungles, stay connected to the wild, and remain immersed in nature. I want to keep exploring forests, discovering new landscapes, and capturing the stories they hold. Along with that, I hope to keep taking people along with me, showing them the beauty of wildlife the way I experience it, and helping them form their own connection with the jungle.
Tell us something about the gear you use and how it helped in your photographic journey.
I currently use a Nikon Z9 with the 180–600mm and a Z6 III with the 70–200mm. This combination has been incredible for my photographic journey. The clarity, sharpness, and especially the quick and accurate autofocus have helped me capture moments without any delay, even in fast, unpredictable situations in the wild. These cameras also allow me to shoot beautiful, high-quality videos, which has added a whole new dimension to my storytelling. Altogether, this setup has played a major role in helping me grow as a photographer.
