Welcome to the 36th edition of PT Aware, our bi-monthly journal dedicated to raising awareness about species, habitats, and the urgent need for conservation.
In every edition, we spotlight a species that deserves attention often misunderstood, threatened, or simply overlooked. Through carefully researched stories, we aim to bridge the gap between knowledge and empathy because we believe awareness is the first step toward protection.
This edition brings the spotlight to the Nile Monitor, a powerful and intelligent reptile native to Africa’s riverbanks, swamps, and savannahs. Often feared or misjudged, the Nile Monitor plays a vital role in the ecosystems it inhabits. In this issue, we explore its natural behavior, ecological importance, the threats it faces from habitat loss and human conflict, and how understanding and conscious action can help secure its future.
PT Aware is a free platform created for wildlife photographers, scientists, conservationists, and nature lovers. Together, we hope to amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves, the wild species we share this planet with.
