Lakshitha Karunarathna FRPS is an award-winning wildlife photographer, educator, and Sony Regional Brand Ambassador whose work beautifully bridges art, science, and conservation. Inspired by Sir David Attenborough, he has spent over a decade documenting wildlife across Sri Lanka, Africa, the Arctic, Europe, North America, and Asia, using photography as a powerful storytelling tool.
His work has earned global recognition, including top honours at Nature’s Best Photography, Africa Photographer of the Year, Golden Turtle, Nature Photographer of the Year, and accolades at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year by the Natural History Museum, London. In 2020, he became the first Sri Lankan to be awarded Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS). Known for his distinctive style blending fine-art aesthetics with documentary depth, Lakshitha often uses monochrome and drone perspectives to capture the emotion of the wild.
His impactful projects on human–elephant conflict and plastic pollution have been featured on BBC, National Geographic, and the Smithsonian Channel. Beyond photography, he is deeply committed to education, inspiring others through workshops and talks to see, think, and connect with the natural world more meaningfully.
